Chillbrand 50!

Chillbrand is 50 and done with her class quest!

Now the gearing up begins. I would have hit Black Hole except it was quite late. Her gear is semi-decent already, mostly 112. Ok for just hitting the cap.

We also ran our lowbies through Mandalorian Raiders. Good flashpoint.

Chillguard 48

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , on January 11, 2012 by callmechill

Dinged 48 barely last night. Ran some more space missions and did some Corellia missions with Oni and Magneto.

I found out that you don’t get experience for a failed mission–even the points you see popping up when you destroy targets.

Closing in hard on 50. Not there yet though.

My new mic is clear. Should be good for the podcast.

Still Spacing Out

Chillguard is 47. Oni and I finished Voss together. Off to Corellia, apparently.

I leveled my crew skills some more before that by sending them out while doing space missions. That won’t be as efficient going forward, however, since the missions are now much longer than one space mission.  Better to just get out there and level through solo missions.

Running the highest level space mission gave me about 10,000 exp per mission. This is running it after the daily had been done already. I did some quick math, and at this level that is not as quick as regular questing. It is better than nothing, certainly, and is also giving some credits and some space commendations.  Also, instead of using rested exp, it is giving it. No, getting the exp from blowing up enemy fighters doesn’t get boosted by rest.

Top of the Tree–Whee?

Chillguard is 42 now. Done with the prison planet unless I get to the next planet and feel it is too tough.

I like the ability at the top of the tree. It gives me an energy cell back. But the damage is poor–about the same as the filler, no-cost level 1 ability–with a short range and a 15 second cooldown. So maybe I don’t like it so much, on second thought.  I want to like it. Yes, that is more accurate.

Crew Skill Capping

Chillguard is now 42. I did play some but felt tired and cut it somewhat short. Did my space missions and started the prison planet.

My crew skills are pretty much capped out at this point. Hopefully I will be able to start making purple recipes soon. I am making lots of aim barrel 22s and now have the blue version.

40 leads to open doors

Chillguard is almost 41. 40 opened up two new space missions, which are very difficult at level. Very fun, too.  Much experience was gained via interaction missions with companions. I won’t say more due to spoilers.

Not quite enough money for the next driving skill. Clearly I will level more. I am also trying to get some 400 Armstech recipes, which will take a while.

Back to it!

Back at work, thus back to updating here.

Did a lot of SWTOR on my break. My trooper is 39 and done with act 2. Still loving space missions. I still like being a vanguard though occasionally I wonder if the commando would be more fun.

I did my Act 2 closer without my healer because the choices they gave me didn’t quite make it clear which ones I would have available to me during fights. But it was still cool seeing all of Havoc Squad in action.

I have a couple of toons I am leveling with my son. He seems tired of the smuggler, so we made inquisitors. We are early in Dromund Kaas on them.

I also have a counselor that I am leveling with my wife. But it is unclear how much she likes the games, so it may be an orphan.

I have a couple of other toons just for fun, but none above level 9 or so.

Loving SWTOR.

Easy Rider

Chillguard is now 26. He has riding skill, thanks to a loan from Gabe which I already have paid back.

Gabe took Ripp and myself through the Athess flashpoint. It was pretty fun, though it will be interesting to see how it looks at-level.

Another good chunk of exp came when Oni and I grouped up and took on two Tattooine 2-man heroic quests. Good gear from them, too.

With riding now done, I will be going back to leveling crew skills next.

We also recorded the OotiniCast last night with Ripp and Gabe. Look for it soon. Teo will decide whether he will edit it early or put it out at the usual time (in a couple of days).

Having a Blast

Had a lot of fun last night.

Teo and I guested on TOR Syndicate’s podcast. It should be out in a few days.
I got Chillguard up to level 14. A very important level for ALL SWTOR toons – it’s when you get Sprint, which ups your run speed whenever you are out of combat.
Teo, Hyp, Gabe (Wolveshead) and I ran the first 4-man, the Esseles. It is a lot of fun, and in some ways similar to Black Talon on the Empire side–a few boss mechanics, but no real need for a designated healer or tank. Which is good, because you have almost none at this level.
I changed out one of my crew skills. I dropped Diplomacy in favor of Armstech. It was getting expensive and I was thinking of getting a second gathering skill. But Gabe was having fun with Armortech, and suggested I try Armstech. I looked at my skills and realized I had the two skills that fed into Armstech already–Salvaging and Investigation. So I grabbed Armstech.  Now I have a bit of catching up to do.

3-Arena Night

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 11, 2011 by callmechill

Three arena teams yesterday.

First up was Kaiser on his hunter and me on my resto druid. We started rough–really rough–but ended up about 8-11. Probably a function of rust as much as anything.

Second was Oni (disc priest), Zooe (rogue) and me on Chillmon the frost mage. 8-0!  We were tearing it up. Our best new tactic was cc’ing the healer while burning a DPSer down.

The cc was largely handled by me, sheeping and counterspelling.  This was because of range. When possible Zooe would blind or Oni would fear. Then it was burn, baby, burn.

Finally it was Skove and Chilldeed, going 2-rogue. I think we went 8-6, but it was better than that looks because both of us suffered lags. Probably 3 of the losses were lag-related. I did not notice any wins coming because they lagged.

Skove and I have gotten good at switching. A common example:  burn DPS until the healer blows cooldowns, then switch to the healer.

If there is a stealther one of us opens on the visible enemy and the other waits to open on his little friend.

In other news: a stock analyst estimates Star Wars: The Old Republic to sell 3m copies in its first year, with 2m subscriptions resulting. Sounds good if true!
